Resistance Squad: Phonebank to Protect Trans Rights in Massachusetts
What do we do when trans people are under attack?
STAND UP FIGHT BACK!
In Massachusetts, the state legislature passed protections allowing for transgender and gender non-conforming people to use bathrooms and other public spaces that align with their gender identity. On Election Day, Massachusetts voters will face the first-ever statewide popular vote on protections for transgender people from discrimination. The referendum would repeal their state law that protects transgender people from discrimination in public places, including restaurants, stores, and doctors’ offices.
This ballot initiative is a clear and deliberate attack on transgender and gender nonconforming people. If we stand by and do nothing, peoples' safety and lives will be at risk. If we allow for this to happen in Massachusetts, we have no doubt that similar ballot initiatives will proliferate across the country. Stand with us to stop this hateful attack on our community.
And this is what the Resistance Squad is all about. We advocate for the rights of communities that are underrepresented and underserved. And we won’t stop fight for our communities until everyone has the resources they need to be healthy, equal, and complete.
